LIF Salon London

OVERVIEW

The Legal Innovation Forum Salon Series looks at how organizations steer through geopolitical shifts, a rewired global economy, and technology that routinely outpaces policy.

For senior legal leadership and their outside counsel, the AI conversation has been more noise than signal. “Would be” or purported guidance is seemingly everywhere, a range of tools is spreading, and the business faces unfocused pressure to adopt these tools or be left behind.

LIF Salons aim to cut through the noise and elevate the conversation. They convene leading thinkers and practitioners to surface the right questions. Here, the point of inquiry is: where is legal technology going and, more importantly, for what purpose? And how should legal leaders respond?

PURPOSE

Held under Chatham House Rule, LIF salons offer an intimate forum for innovation-focused leaders to explore new ideas at the intersection of business, risk, and law.

THEMES

Navigating what’s next:
Delivering legal services in an AI-infused ecosystem

What’s different this time and why? The typewriter, email, and comparison tools have all sped things up, but the way many lawyers work is still much the same as it was 20–50 years ago. How is this moment different, and how can AI change the role and impact of lawyers in law, business, and society?

Scale, access, and transfer: Lawyers worry about the potential need for fewer lawyers, yet society and business need legal services more than ever. How can AI expand capacity while democratizing access?

A different lens on AI and legal ethics: We are moving from “not using AI” as brag to red flag. Beyond the trivial of what not to do with AI, what are the bar’s obligations now?  While much of the conversation tends to focus on the risks of using AI, this conversation will cover the practical, legal, and ethical implications of not adopting AI in effective and efficient ways.
